I recently read an article on Brides.com: Couples Who Cook Together Stay Together, Says Science and it got me thinking about how true this in general- food always brings people closer together because it opens up a window of time and a space to communicate. My favorite time spent with my fiancé is often in the kitchen- we chit chat about our day while simultaneously working on dinner together (Our routine: I like to prep food and he is the safest option for cooking the food- heehee). Not to mention it is downright romantic to be side-by-side with your partner, maybe jamming to some music, laughing and having a glass of wine. I dig it.
I wasn’t always interested in cooking with my boo. I was introduced to the idea when we started trying out the Blue Apron and Hello Fresh meal kit home delivery plans. We were hesitant about these at first because they can be a bit pricey, but we love them because they are always delicious, convenient and they make it easy to prepare restaurant-quality meals in the comfort of your own home. I love that the recipe cards explain exactly how to prepare the ingredients and teaches everyone- no matter where you are rated on the chef scale- how to make fancy meals in about an hour, if not less. I literally am a walking, talking billboard for these meal delivery services because of how awesome they turned out to be for us. Plug over- I digress!
I was looking through a stack of our saved Blue Apron and Hello Fresh recipe cards the other day, intrigued with food and wanting to find more recipes and maybe some themed cookbooks. Never before had I realized how sexy a cookbook could be! I’m telling you- there is some mad food porn up in these pages. ( I’m starving now just writing about it.) So I went a little nuts, found way too many awesome books and here I am sharing this with you all; all of these belong on your bucket list or wedding registry. Here are 20 cookbooks (in no particular order) guaranteed to heat things up in the kitchen. Bon appétit!
